Crashed after Kindergarten!
My baby just crashed in the car after our little shopping trip. I had a hard time carrying her Kindergarten stuff, my work stuff, our bought stuff etc. - and her upstairs. Uff! She's not supposed to take naps during the day (usually she doesn't want to either, it's not like I'm intentionally keeping her awake!). If she naps only 10 minutes during the day, we have trouble when going to bed at night. Usually it's 1 or 2 hours later than usual at night. Which drives me crazy! That's the reason we stay home during the day or just walk places - bc in the car she'll fall asleep 100%... it also happened in the backseat of my bike recently, which means we can't go anywhere by bike either.
By the way, she's wearing her new "working overalls" ("Schaff-Hos" the kids call them) from Engelhard Strauss. Other Kindergarten parents had recommended them and we all ordered together. They're said to be unbreakable! 15 Euros well invested - I hope so.
We also have chicken!
Since L has about all the toys she "needs" until she's 10, I'd recommend everyone to add to the animal farm (preferrably animals from our real life experience), if anyone wants to get her a little gift (hello Grandparents, Daddy & Co!).

Summer dress copy
Two nights ago I was in the sewing mood. I haven't had time for this passion in a while. And since I hadn't tried out my new sewing machine yet... I had a piece of fabric laying around for over a year. Hadn't touched it yet, bc I was intimitated by a brand new fabric. Usually I only use fabric from 2nd hand clothes. I didn't want to ruin the new fabric. Anyway... I had bought a summer dress from a chinese store for about 10 bucks years ago. It's slowly wearing out, but it's my absolutely favorite dress. So I decided to copy it. I'm soooooo proud of the result! The first item I made for myself, I'll be actually wearing. So far everything I made for myselef ended up as nightgown or in the very back of my drawers. Things for L are much more simple. Anyway... I finished it until 1:30 in the morning and was so psyched! Next morning Lenara had to take pictures to post... (I love her pics!). What a special moment.

Tupperware Crazyness or Ebay trapped

Dear readers, one month ago I was making fun of tupperware parties and their products. Two tupperware parties and one smart idea later, I have to admit I got tupperware crazy.
And for the very first time I'm broke by the end of the month - for real.
The tupperware lady was a really smart one. In the beginning I thought - who needs all that stuff??? By the end of the party I was convinced, that some items might also help me organize my kitchen better, i.e. the bread box, bc my bread always goes bad. But still, most of the things I don't need and they're way too expensive for my needs.
Brilliant idea came to my mind: As a smart ebay shopper, why not buy used tupperware - especially since the products are known for their lifetime warranty and quality?!
For the past 2 weeks I got really good at this. Some really awesome deals.
Bad part: I kept looking for more and more stuff... today, being clear in my mind, I'm not so sure, if I really only purchased the very very useful things.
But hey, I can still resell, and probably earn some money. I'll keep you updated, about which items I'd really recommend. And I'm glad my bank account somewhat put a limit to my ebay addiction.
All is good.

Mooncup: The full review
Dear ladies, I have blogged about the Mooncup® (known in the USA as MCUK®) earlier this month. As I have promised I will give you a detailled review now.

When I received the mooncup in the mail, I was surprised of the well designed packaging. It's a very classy design and I like the choice of paper. It totally reflects the spirit of an ecological product and company and keeps in mind the target group: women who are seeking for some extra relief in yuckie times. So thank God, no vagina graphics or medical looks. The mooncup comes with a well designed (ok, most people will skip the design part, but I just am a designer, so I notice such things!) manual in tons of languages. But the "how to" part is really kept short and very encouraging. You want to try it right away because it sounds so easy.
Which was the bad part: I had to wait over a week for my period. I haven't been keeping track of my period in a while. So my guess was just wrong and my worrying for the mooncup to arrive too late for nothing. So I had it sitting in my bathroom - anxiously waiting to be used. (It also caught Lenara's attention and she kept asking me about it and I had to take it out of her mouth at least one time. How do you explain a 2-year-old what these things are good for... ?!)
So finally my period came and YESSSSS I got to use my very own mooncup for the very first time (aren't you excited!?).
PUTTING IN/OUT:
Easier than I had expected. You have to fold the flexible cup twice and put it in basically like a tampon. It folds up right in place. You're supposed to cut the pull-back part to a good length adjusted to your body. It's not supposed to stick out, so you can feel or it hurts. I cut twice, just to be sure. To take it out, you just pull very slowly so some air gets in to break up the vacuum. Very similar to a tampon I would say. '

WEARING EXPERIENCE:
I didn't feel this thing at all!!! Meaning AT ALL! Even now that I write this, I had to think a sec, if I'm still wearing it. A tampon always moves a tiny bit up or down in some moments - i.e. when going to the toilet with a tampon I always had to make sure it's not being sqeezed down. Not with the mooncup though. Unless you pull the little string, it stays right in place.
EMPTYING:
I went hiking the first day, and when I had to pee in the woods, I first realized what a mess this would have meant with a tampon. After 2 hours I would have had to exchange the tampon. But there wasn't any place to dispose it. I would have wrapped it in a tissue and put it back in my backpack. Great! (I hate when I have to take home stinky diapers. Not talking of yuckie tampons.) But with the mooncup I didn't have to pay attention to my period. It can stay in up to 8 hours (depending on how heavy the period is). And if I had to empty it, I could have simple taken my bottle of water into the woods to rinse it a little and put it back in.
I also hate, when people don't have a garbage in their bathrooms (mainly male singles!). You have to wrap the bloody tampon in some toilet paper, try to hide it in your hand (or your pocket) and try to get to some close garbage without attracting any attention. (Not talking about the ones I found a couples of days later in my bag...). So that's a plus for private bathrooms: you only need a sink - no garbage.
But, that's the point. In a public bathroom, what do I do? Lock myself in, take the mooncup out, pull my pants up again, go outside again to rinse it in the sink - with everybody watching... ? I suppose you have to take some water with you then. Which makes it more complicated compared to tampons. Unless you don't rinse it, just empty it and put it back in... which would work as an exception. I personally would prefer to rinse it every time though.
I thought it to be very fascinating to actually see the exact amount of blood I'm losing - for the very first time!! During those past 18 years I have never had a clue how much it is - I simply felt like a slaughtered pig at times. What a revelation! I like to know and explore my body. Being faced with plain blood in a sink, might be a problem for some though. Which could be a minus. But I personally really don't mind. I don't think a bloody tampon is any less nasty. And I just thought about it, there's no odor with the mooncup, whereas a tampon starts smelling, if you leave it in for too long.
OVERLL RESULT:
I personally am VERY fascinated by this product and I'm going to stick with the mooncup. Definitely! It feels much more comfortable, natural and compatible with my body (no matter, if I'm going to safe money by using it and/or safe the rainforests - which is not a bad thing either! great!). Especially the fear of leaking is extremely diminished since a mooncup works like a "plug" and not like a "sponge".
I love it!
Go get yourself a mooncup, Ladies! ;)

Mooncup
I came across this "Mooncup" while surfing the web. It's an interesting idea.

I have my period coming up next week (now you know it!), let's see if the order will be here on time. I'm so curious, if it works. It was a big investment on my side. But I'm working again, so I can afford things like that every once in a while (ok, next time it will be nailpolish or good coffee again). It's supposed to be usable for 10 years!! So 30 Euros doesn't seem like such a big investment in the long run. I'll keep you updated on the return-of-investment.
Side note: There are two sizes. One is smaller for ladies under 30 or who haven't given birth yet, and the larger one for ladies over 30 or those who have given birth already. It made me feel old since I had to order the large one - not only for having given birth. But yes, I better get used to the thought of being 30 soon...
I'm not sure, if I would have liked this idea a couple of years ago. But to me it feels like now that I've given birth AND I'm turning 30 (yes), so many things have been stuck in my vagina so far, why not a cup?! Especially if it turns out useful. (next to pressing a child through it - which has been the most useful purpose so far... oh wait, maybe not......).
The Mooncup® is the original silicone menstrual cup designed by women to be a convenient, safe and eco-friendly alternative to tampons and sanitary pads. Loved by women all around the world, and made in the UK by a multi-award winning ethical business, the Mooncup offers an end to the waste, discomfort and expense of disposable sanitary protection.

Falling in love
I'm always falling in love with things. Is that a bad thing? Don't I fall in love with a gentleman, because I give all my love to things? Should I stop falling in love with things? Is that possible at all? Can you controll falling in love?

Found this suitcase on a fleamarket. Had to carry it through the entire city and take the bus home. I felt like a celebrity. Finally some attention! What a cool trick. Totally recommended. Plus it matches my boots! Plus sunshine! Plus Baileys Latte! I'm in Daddy-Weekend heaven right now... I wonder where the suitcase has been travelling before. Now it will get some rest.
I want to put my sewing stuff in it. Another step towards an organized 2-room-apt. ;)

Slippers

Only one finished so far... but proud enough to post even one of them. ;) I painted latex on the bottom so it's not slippery. Very easy to make, if you know how to knit a sock. It's basically just a sock sewn into a crochetted sole. I'm just worried it's slightly too small for my girl. But I'm sure it'll stretch when wearing it for a while. If it doesn't fit, I'll sell it. I'm thinking about opening a DaWanda store. I'm just not sure, if I'll find enough time to make things for sale. I'm super busy creating things for Lenara, our home, or gifts for friends and different occasions... a lot of people have been telling me lately to sell my stuff. Hmmm... I like it.

Interlocking Blocks
Read about those last night and thought they are pretty cool as you can built organic shapes, not like legos, and they are made from wood. The Mom recommending them said all her 4 kids (girls and boys) love to play with them during all different ages. She valued those as the best toy they owned. I also liked all the other things this store "nova natural" offers. Thought I'd share...

Most perfect Bib
My U.S.-Mom presented us with the most perfect bib I have ever used on Lenara. We took it right back to Germany with us after our stay there. You can wipe it off easily (and you know how excited that makes me?!) and the crums fall right into this little bag in the front - which reduces cleaning the floor under the table by at least 50% (and you know how excited that makes me?!). And (this is the clue!) this bag opens up for easy cleaning. Our bib has been in use for all meals ever since.
So I decided to make another one, so I can put one in the laundry (and you know how excited that makes me?!) and use the extra one instead. It didn't come out that great actually (I made a pattern myself, which isn't quite the original shape), but it still works. And I love the little birdie who "eats" the crums from the bag... kinda. ;) Plus I know, this is an interim bib as my U.S.-Mom has more bibs in the mail. Can't wait.

I'm going to bed now. 4 posts in one evening. You're right. I don't have a life. I just don't. Although I have to add, last night I went to a candle party. Much like a tupperware party. What a blast. We stayed out til 8:30 pm! And therefore slept in til 9 am this morning. Woohoo...
