Welcome Giuliana!

Gifts for a whole Gang

For Christmas I made Lenara and her friends T-shirts with their Capital Letters. The funny part was the one for the unborn baby of my friend (born by now btw)... Easy and adorable!

We also have chicken!

I just saved 35 Euros buying wood animals at the Ostheimer Outlet near us. A real treat. The shop experience was wonderful - being surrounded by soooo many handcrafted wood animals. The best impression was looking at about 50 baby Jesus' in one row. We had a hard time choosing. Originally we only wanted to get a gift for a friend's 4th birthday. L had also already gotten some for christmas. Then she fell in love with a tree! Which I am so happy about, bc my Mom used to have such a tree when I was a kid (I'm still mad at her for throwing it out or whatever happened with it). So it was a good "excuse" for getting our own. Since most of the items were half price off, I found myself also buying some really small animals for the tree - a squirrel, a bird, an owl and a little mouse. Most of them were about 5 Euros each. Still a lot, but so worth it, considering they're all handmade and everlasting.

Since L has about all the toys she "needs" until she's 10, I'd recommend everyone to add to the animal farm (preferrably animals from our real life experience), if anyone wants to get her a little gift (hello Grandparents, Daddy & Co!).

Finally... flipflop strap!!

Shhhh, this is a surprise for L's Easter basket. A while ago we browsed ebay together and came across these cute Hello Kitty Flip Flops. L wanted them badly. She has no idea I got them for her - and today I made a strap, with the push button that was driving me crazy earlier. But now I learnt how to do it. When you put the right pieces together it's really not that hard. My ego feels more peaceful with myself now. ;)
I really wonder though, if she can walk properly in those and if the strap fits. Let's see...

Nice Scarfs to play with or decorate

I recommend this ebay-shop: http://www.ebay.de/itm/250923528350?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648.
I just bought 9 colored (Waldorf) scarves to either decorate the season's table or for L. to build caves, houses, rooms, wrap her babies... whatever. This lady has them in all colors and for a really good price. I had been looking around for a while, but all I found from "real" Waldorf suppliers (catalogues etc.) were quite expensive, I thought. So I'm happy I found these... I can't post pictures yet, because the set of rainbow scarves is going to be my birthday gift for L. ;)

What a fun project: Teddy

My friend's daughter - Lenara's friend - had a similar one with her yesterday. I loved it! [Surprise, surprise!] So did everyone else at the little garden party we had. And since I just recently copied a "how-to-chrochette-a-teddy-tutorial" from a book from the library... and we spent a relaxing day at my parents' today... this is today's all-day-chrochetting-and-having-latte-macchiaots-in-the-sun-result. And I know who this little guy will be living with...

Wrapping Paper

We found a new fun activity: Decorating Wrapping Paper!

The big box is for Lenara's good friend Flo - truck inside. We colored the box. The small one was containing a puzzle for Louise's older brother (Lenara's friend). I cut out little prints of the Verbaudet catalogue. Lenara glued it to the paper. She loved it! And so did the receiver - unwrapping included taking off all little pieces, one by one. ;)

More birdies

This one left our home today. It's a gift to welcome little Louise, born Feb 18th 2011. We visited her today. Oh, how tiny she is! And so amazing to have her in my arms. I want one too...

Of Birds, Woods and Magical Spots

These will be given to our Mini-Club host on Friday. The semester is over. Some of us (including us) won't go back, so we'd like to say "Thank you" (on the little note the bird is holding):

Just realized how nice they would look on Lenara's shelf. Darn:

These went to our friends in Munich last weekend. The birds are matching the kitchen colors perfectly! But it will be placed in a different room. I'm so happy they loved it:

I'm so crazy about collecting branches at the moment. There are so many beautiful surfaces and shapes. Right now is the time for tree cutting, so I find piles of cut branches everywhere. My Mom kept making fun of me last week, as on our walk I spotted all the branch piles from far away. LOL.

[added later]

Mommy in wood heaven! Although we didn't bring home too many. Just a nice selection.

This one will be filled with birdies soon. It just took me 45 minutes to get it tight on the wall. Uff! Hoooorray for me being such a determined Single:

[/added later]

Today we took the bike into the closest woods, which I have never done so far (don't ask me why). We found a beautiful spot: some fallen trees, which made perfect benches to sit on, a shallow water stream running through that spot, a huge tree and several smaller bushes to play hide and seek. I can just picture that spot in spring and summer. I'm sure we'll go back there many times. You should have seen Lenara's eyes, when we walked from our bike off the little path into the woods - they were shining to say the least! I seriously have to consider the "Waldkindergarten" now. I know she would love it. They take kids aged 3+ and they spend all the time in the woods. For heavy weather conditions they have a little shelter, but the rest takes place outside - peeing, pooping and digging it, playing, building shelters, learning about animals and plants... We returned with cold feet (Lenara had walked straight into the stream, water up to her knees and I wasn't fast enough, or rather I watched her but couldn't believe what she was doing until I finally got myself moving) and our bike trailer full of interesting looking branches...

When I told Lenara to go to bed tonight, she ran through the dark hallway... and soon after I heard some loud noises. The poor thing had tripped over Mommie's stupid branches. She already seems pretty annoyed with my latest passion.
