Gifts for a whole Gang

For Christmas I made Lenara and her friends T-shirts with their Capital Letters. The funny part was the one for the unborn baby of my friend (born by now btw)... Easy and adorable!

Getting ready for Fasching: Räuber Hotzenplotz

Lenara is hearing all about Räuber Hotzenplotz in Kindergarten. So she decided she wanted to dress up as Räuber Hotzenplotz for Fasching (Feb 11th). Thanks to Google I know what he looks like... The challenge is that it needs to go OVER her outdoor Kindergarten outfit, as they are outside for the dress up party as well. Today we took some time to make the outfit... tatataaaaah!
I have to admit, I'm a little bit proud of the hat! It's a knitted hat from the dollar store, stuffed on top of a regular Cowboy Fasching hat... and I made the feather from felt. We will paint her face for Fasching. And she insists on 7 knives and a colt. I told her, if she wanted that, she needed to make those herself... she knows how to carve wood. So she can do it in Kindergarten next week. Gee, all the princess outfits are staying in the basement this year... :))

Infinity dress

This infinity dress by "Sew like my Mom" was also inspiration for the one I made. And I think I'll make myself one of those too. Simple enough: It consists of only a few pieces and very few seams. Just my sewing style!

Summer dress copy

Two nights ago I was in the sewing mood. I haven't had time for this passion in a while. And since I hadn't tried out my new sewing machine yet... I had a piece of fabric laying around for over a year. Hadn't touched it yet, bc I was intimitated by a brand new fabric. Usually I only use fabric from 2nd hand clothes. I didn't want to ruin the new fabric. Anyway... I had bought a summer dress from a chinese store for about 10 bucks years ago. It's slowly wearing out, but it's my absolutely favorite dress. So I decided to copy it. I'm soooooo proud of the result! The first item I made for myself, I'll be actually wearing. So far everything I made for myselef ended up as nightgown or in the very back of my drawers. Things for L are much more simple. Anyway... I finished it until 1:30 in the morning and was so psyched! Next morning Lenara had to take pictures to post... (I love her pics!). What a special moment.

Just call me the Godess of Push-Buttons and Flip Flop Straps!

I am so excited about this cute matching gift box! Only my undidentical twin would understand, I'm not crazy. ;)

Finally... flipflop strap!!

Shhhh, this is a surprise for L's Easter basket. A while ago we browsed ebay together and came across these cute Hello Kitty Flip Flops. L wanted them badly. She has no idea I got them for her - and today I made a strap, with the push button that was driving me crazy earlier. But now I learnt how to do it. When you put the right pieces together it's really not that hard. My ego feels more peaceful with myself now. ;)
I really wonder though, if she can walk properly in those and if the strap fits. Let's see...

Our new Bike!!!

I made the kid's seat cover! So proud of myself. If you'd look closely you'd notice the non-professional work. But hey, from far it looks just perfect to me. ;))

Hey... while I was looking for a picture of the old cover (I forgot to take a before and after pic), I found more covers. Seems like I'm not the first with this idea... (surprise, surprise!) - those I found on Dawanda:

Gone Fishin'

...something for O to play with on rainy days. It rains all the time here. It's made from a simple magnet and some washers all from the hardware store. The fish are from scraps of fabric with button eyes. I started to get lofty about the pretty and elaborate fish I wanted to make but I decided to just make the fish so the playing could begin.

In exchange for my homemade bread, a lady taught me how to make our own yogurt. It's really easy, basically heat it and then cool it, then let it sit. Its so much better than all the sweetened yogurts here. And, Olivia liked it! It even worked with the lactose-free milk.

Other than these things, I'm trying to 'get out of the way' more and let Olivia play but be the warm presence at the same time. There's been rain, snow, and intermittent flower planting. Olivia picked the colors of the primroses (which are frost durable) then she helped dig and cover along side.

It's funny really because we've done more mommy-daughter things but I've made it a point to not have the phone/camera with me. I feel like I want to not rush the product but focus on the process more...which leaves only product pictures though.

Thinking about a hair cut...but we love the bed head.

FlipFlop Straps!!!

How cute and convenient is that?! Even for kids to wear them savely or like in Germany driving with FlipFlops is banned by law (insurance issue) - have those in your car and you can wear FlipFlops anytime. I really usually have another pair of shoes in the car, because in summer all I wear are FlipFlops. And when you make clothes for your kids, you can make matching straps... awwww!

New Shirt

Wow, I made something! With my sewing machine! Just the little application - but still. It's been forever. Just a little project about 45 mins... with Lenara watching. Fun.
